Top 5 Marketing Tactics Overlooked by Real Estate Professionals

 July 1, 2007

The real estate industry is changing… and fast. Agents are constantly looking for ways to stand out in front of searching homebuyer and sellers. The following are a few techniques you may have missed that just might make a big difference in your business.

Blogs: A blog, short for weblog, is a website where you can submit journal-like entries that are listed in reverse chronological order. When consistently updated, blogs help you to get noticed by search engines and homebuyers, as well as keeping your visitors up-to-date on the status of your business, including new listings, open houses and more! With keyword rich titles, lots of text, links, and sub-pages, blogs are a perfect way to drive traffic to your website or online presence via search engine optimization. Both search engines and website visitors appreciate frequently updated content so they feel they are getting the most cutting-edge information. Want to start a blog? Check out sites like BloggerWordPress, or Typepad.

Publish Articles Online: By submitting articles to websites and E-zines (online magazines) it is easy to expand your reach and build relevant links back to your own website to help build your site’s search engine ranking. By submitting relevant articles, it will also help you position yourself as an expert in your field. Let those articles do double duty by posting them on your website as well.

Toll-Free Listing Hotlines: Almost every listing on the market has some type of ad or yard sign to advertise it. Because there is very little room for text on such media, it was traditionally very difficult to say all you would like to about the property. Now, with toll-free listing hotlines, (such as iHOUSE ConnecTel) homebuyers need only call the posted phone number to hear a detailed recorded message about the property! If you are interested in purchasing a toll-free listing hotline, or just taking a test drive at no cost, see this month’s special offer.

Press Releases: Many real estate professionals don’t bother with press releases because many feel they need to be a public relations expert to write them. Not true! Press releases are an easy and extremely cost effective way of getting your name and/or website listed in one more place on the web. Much like blogs, press releases are the ideal medium to grab the attention of homebuyers AND search engines. You can even submit press releases at no cost to many sites such as PR.com. YouTube: if you haven’t been to YouTube.com, check it out! YouTube allows its visitors to post Internet videos at no cost. And while this technology is still fairly new, it gives agents a leg up on the competition. Agents can create and post videos such as virtual home tours. These videos can be posted on an agent’s website or blog. For more information on YouTube’s applications in real estate, click here!

The goal of these marketing techniques, and many other tactics is to keep your marketing consistently new and fresh. If you integrate even one of these techniques into your marketing plan, you are bound to see some positive results.
