This is the conclusion of the two part series detailing the important issues that a Realtor should consider when selecting a Domain Name for their business.

Here’s 3 new tips on how to choose the best Domain name as a licensed real estate agent or Realtor.

#1 – Brand who, You?

An important decision that you’ll need to make is to brand yourself as your business or to brand your business itself “as the business”.

Before you decide remember this, people rarely remember the companies that real estate agents work for because the truth is they move around quite a bit.

Even the most experienced real estate agent has worked for many different brokers during their time hoping around from one shop to another.

However, during this time the one thing that has not changed is who they are and the fact that their old clients sill remember them, by name.

This is why I recommend Realtors to use their name when they register a domain as they can always update it with the latest information on which broker they are working with while keeping full control of their site allowing them to build a genuine audience made up of past and potential clients.

#2 – Dot what?

Another important consideration when choosing a domain name is the primary suffix.

With so many to choose from these days it’s hard to decide which “extension” you should select such as a .com, .net, .biz, or many of the other varieties.

I recommend .com for most uses as this is the most popular but if the domain you really want is taken and .net is available then go for this instead.

Also, I strongly recommend integrating custom suffixes into your name if it would fit perfectly.  For example GeorgeBen.net, MattDu.me, or AlFran.co.

#3 – Multiple Domain names, Why?

Using multiple domain names for functional purposes can be very effective.

A good example is seasonal promotions and special advertising and marketing efforts.

You may not want the respondents of your latest ad campaign to return to your MAIN website.

It has been proven to be more effective to have them go to a landing page on your promotional THEMED website such SoldFastMiami.com or BuyaNewYorkFlat.net.

Another beneficial technique related to multiple domains is to promote single property websites. This is a built in feature of the leading online real estate management tool which will help you drive customers to your most featured listings.
