Release Notes – 2023.03.30

 March 30, 2023

Highlights

  • React application optimizations and performance improvements
This release will include a modest first round of optimizations and performance improvements to our react application front end aimed at improving page indexing and results on common page speed testing tools. Much more to come in future releases, but we need to move carefully as we do this work. (It is often the case that the robots that do this kind of analysis and decide on ranking often dislike choices that actually make the human experience of a website better. Where necessary and appropriate we will obviously make choices that will cause a large improvement to indexing even if they diminish the human experience, but whenever possible we want to endeavor to make changes that will make both robots and humans happy, which increases the challenge already inherent in the project.)
  • Google Ads API updates
Google Ads deprecated the version of their API libraries that we were using to implement our ads features, and so we’ve updated our code to use the newest versions of the API to correct the resulting issues.
  • TurboLeads iOS and Android application updates
We’ve published new versions of our iOS and Android applications for TurboLeads on the respective app stores. This update doesn’t provide any significant feature additions, but it should ensure that our application remains compatible with newer devices, and in some cases might provide small performance and stability improvements.
  • Mortgage rates page improvements
We’ve made changes to the way the mortgage rates page presents data to make it more resilient to situations where our data sources have changed or failed to provide us with good data for any given category.
  • More tweaks and improvements based on web builder feedback
We’ve made another round of tweaks and improvements in this release aimed at reducing repetitive and needless work for the web builder team, largely based around adding more flex content macros for accessing commonly edited data and using them where needed in default content, and making more fixes to reduce the need to edit pronouns in default content to match package selection.
